Bird's Nest Fungi (Nidulariaceae)
Bird's Nest fungi require rain to disperse their spores. If a raindrop hits at the right angle, the peridioles containing the spores can be shot several meters away. Some species that grow on trees have evolved cords attached to each peridiole. When the peridioles are sent flying, the cord allows them to wrap around nearby branches and germinate.
